3. October, 2009 - Brick Lane

We ventured towards Brick Lane, famous for currys and vintage fashion.

We accidentally went on a Saturday, rather than the more-crowded Sunday, but this turned out to be for the best, as we were nearly run over (by cars, bicycles, and ravaging shoppers) several times throughout the day.

Brick Lane reminded me in some ways of Oranienburger Straße in Berlin, near the Tacheles. There was lots of interesting art and graffiti, and through this gate, you could see the Gherkin.

It smelled delicious, and the street was lined with Asian (in Britain, as we found out, this term refers to the Indian-subcontinent, not the 'Far East') restaurants and sweet shops. Oh, and the clothes looked delicious as well.

A sidestreet off Brick Lane. Clearly we have much more to explore.
